The Fraser Valley Web Grant

This fall our team is building three websites for local organizations on our own time. Each one comes with hosting and three months of help getting found online. There’s nothing to pay.

Apply by November 30

Volunteered by the Self Edit team  |  Applications Nov 1 to 30  |  Recipients announced Dec 15

Why we’re doing this

There’s a lot of junk on the internet. We’d rather add something useful to it, and the Fraser Valley is full of people doing good work who deserve a decent website.

We’ve built websites here since 1998. Giving back matters to us, so we’re donating our time to this. Self Edit covers the costs. It isn’t a government program and there’s no outside money.

If you like working with us and want to keep going after the grant, great. If not, that’s fine too.

The three grants

One for each group below. The values are based on our regular prices.

  • For businesses open less than two years, or opening soon
  • Refresh website ($899)
  • 6 months of hosting ($396)
  • 3 months of local SEO, social media and reviews ($1,188)

Existing Business

Apply

You don’t pay anything, and you don’t have to buy anything afterward. Values are in Canadian dollars.

What’s included

Every grant gets a new website and hosting. We’ll set up your Google Business Profile, then spend three months on local SEO, posting to two of your social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram, for example), and asking your customers for reviews.

You don’t need your words or photos ready. Most people don’t have them. We’ll help with the writing and tell you what photos to take.

Who can apply

Local. Based in Abbotsford or somewhere in the Fraser Valley.
Community. A registered nonprofit or charity, or an established community group.
New business. Open less than two years, or opening soon, with a registered business name.
Existing business. Open two years or more.

Current Self Edit clients can’t apply, but get in touch if you’d like to talk. Organizations where someone from Self Edit, or one of their immediate family, is on the board or an owner can’t apply either.

How we pick

A small panel of local community leaders who don’t work for us will read every application. They’ll score each one on how much good a new website would do for the people you serve, and how much you need one.

There are only three grants, so most people who apply won’t get one this time. If that’s you, please apply again next round.

November 1, 2026. Applications open.
November 30, 2026. Applications close.
December 15, 2026. We announce the recipients and let everyone who applied know.

After the grant

The website is yours. When the included hosting and marketing months end, you can keep any of it at our regular prices or stop. Hosting is $66 a month for businesses or $300 a year for nonprofits, and the marketing services are $99 a month each. There’s no contract. If you’d rather host somewhere else, we’ll help you move.

Apply

It takes about ten minutes. Write the way you’d talk. Fields marked * are required.

Do you have any photos or written content already? (It’s fine if you don’t.)

Your privacy. We only use what you enter here to consider your application and get in touch with you about it. Only Self Edit and our judging panel see it, and the judges don’t see your name, email or phone number. If you’re not selected, your application is deleted six months after the round closes. Like what we’re doing?

Our paying clients are what make this possible. If you need a website, hosting or help getting found online, working with us helps us keep doing projects like this one. It has nothing to do with anyone’s application.

The Fine Print

The grant

  1. The Fraser Valley Web Grant is a volunteer project of the Self Edit team, paid for entirely by Self Edit Technologies Inc. It is not a government grant and involves no outside funding.
  2. This pilot round has three grants: one in the community stream, one in the new business stream, and one in the existing business stream.
  3. Each grant includes a website build (Custom for the community and existing business streams, Refresh for the new business stream); Managed Hosting (one year of Nonprofit Managed Hosting for the community stream, six months for the business streams); and three months of Local SEO Foundation (including Google Business Profile setup), Social Media Management (Starter, two platforms, with syndication to the website) and Review Management.
  4. Values are measured against the prices published on our Services & Pricing page. The grant is applied to the recipient’s invoices, has no cash value, and can’t be transferred or exchanged for other services.
  5. The grant does not include domain names, email, pages beyond the build’s page limit, or any service after its included period. When an included period ends, that service stops unless the recipient chooses to continue at regular prices.
  6. No recipient is required to buy anything from Self Edit. Recipients own their finished website and may move it elsewhere at any time.

Eligibility

  1. Applicants must be based in Abbotsford or elsewhere in the Fraser Valley. Community applicants must be a registered nonprofit or charity, or an established community group. New business applicants must have operated for less than two years (or not yet opened) and have a registered business name. Existing business applicants must have operated for two years or more.
  2. Current Self Edit clients are not eligible. Neither is any organization where a Self Edit owner or staff member, or an immediate family member of one, sits on the board or holds an ownership stake.

Selection

  1. Applications are open from November 1, 2026 to November 30, 2026 (Pacific time). Recipients are announced December 15, 2026, and every applicant is told the outcome.
  2. Applications are scored by a panel of independent judges, all local community leaders, on community impact and need. Each judge declares any connection to an applicant and does not score that application. Scores are averaged across the panel.
  3. Applicants who are not selected receive no discount or other offer, and are welcome to apply in a future round.
  4. Recipients and Self Edit will agree on a schedule together. If Self Edit can’t reach a recipient for 60 days, the grant may be offered to the runner-up in that stream.
  5. By applying, applicants agree that Self Edit may share publicly that they received a grant if selected.

Privacy

  1. Application details are used only to assess the application and contact the applicant. Unsuccessful applications are deleted six months after the round closes.
